How to Install LED Whip Lights

Important: Proper installation of LED Whips requires a good understanding of automotive electronics, systems, and procedures. If you are not familiar with these, please have a professional do the installation.

Preparation

1.1 Ensure that the whip package is in good condition.

1.2 The most important thing to check is your vehicle's voltage. Generally, all ATV/UTV/RZR/Polaris/Boat/JEEP vehicles use DC 12V, which is a common voltage for these connections. If you are connecting with electric bikes or trucks, the LED whips will not work with 5V and could be damaged if exposed to more than 20V.

1.3 If the light doesn't turn on when connected to power, check if the wires are connected correctly. The red wire is positive; the black wire is negative. Reversed connections within 60 seconds are usually acceptable. Norwayho is happy to help you with the first mistake.

1.4 Before starting the installation, gather the required equipment and tools:

Installing LED Whips Without a Mount

There are many different quick-release mount types available on the market. You can easily get a small base; for example, Norwayho's quick-release mount uses a push-and-pull mechanism. Do not pull it out directly.

Secure the mounting base onto the mounting surface using the included mounting bolt, nut, split washer, and washer.

For the installation position, Norwayho recommends the car's rear; a steel plate is much better than a plastic one. When driving fast, a steel plate will keep the LED whips more stable.

The car's tube can also be tied tightly with LED whips. If you haven't tried this, we highly recommend it!

The car's front position is also becoming a popular spot for installation. However, since the LED brightness is over 60 watts and can be used both day and night, it may cause dizziness. The rear position is the number one recommended installation spot.

Installing LED Whips with a Clamp Mount

If you don't want to drill any holes in your car, Norwayho offers a full set of clamp mounts that can be attached to car tubes.

3.1 The most common clamp mounts are available in 1-inch, 1.5-inch, 1.75-inch, and 2-inch sizes. They can be used on all types of vehicles, both for adults and children. With replaceable inner rubber blocks, they can be installed on tubes perfectly, allowing 360° rotation and eliminating the need for drilling.

3.2 With the help of the inner rubber blocks, your car's tube will not be scratched between the tube and hardware.

3.3 The latest clamp set includes 1.75-inch and 2-inch sizes, suitable for all adult off-road vehicles. Connecting the Power Wire Directly

Connecting whips to your car is straightforward. Norwayho provides 1.5 meters or 1.8 meters of wire, starting with matched pins and ending with red and black wires for positive and negative connections, respectively.

4.1 UTV wiring should be as waterproof as possible. We recommend using waterproof relays, terminals, and heat shrink tubing when wiring the whip.

4.2 When running wires, avoid moving parts, sharp edges, and hot surfaces.

4.3 Brush, branches, and rocks can easily damage wiring. Always protect your wiring with a wire loom and secure any hanging wires. Use zip ties to fasten the wires to your car for a neat connection.

Connecting with an Automotive Wiring Set

If you are dealing with messy wiring, Norwayho recommends a convenient automotive wiring set to help you organize your wiring layout and connections.

A complete wiring set includes: a relay, a switch, a fuse holder, and a connection cable.

5.1 About Relays:

Relays are mechanical devices that can connect or disconnect power to an accessory when they receive a low-voltage ‘signal’ from a switch. There are two main reasons why relays are used:

a. If a failure or short circuit occurs, the chances of an interior fire are significantly reduced.

b. It allows for the use of less heavy gauge wire. The longer the wire, the higher the resistance.

5.2 About Switches:

The most useful switch is a 12V 20A CE switch. Moreover, switch cover logos can be customized! Feel free to share your logo or idea, and Norwayho will offer FREE logo customization.

5.3 About Fuse Holders:

Fuse holders are required to integrate fuses that cannot be directly placed into conductive paths. They keep your product safe!

5.4 About Connection Cables:

We can provide cables of any length to meet different requirements. Norwayho uses the international standard 20AWG wire, which can support a 20A current.

Testing the Whip Lights

Before reassembling your vehicle, make sure to test all the functions of the LED whip. Turn on your car and check the turn signals, reverse lights, and brakes. Don't forget to test the wireless remote too. Once everything is working properly, you can reassemble your vehicle if needed.

6.1 How to Test:

Try all the lighting modes and functions as explained in the manual.

Use the remote control or switch to change modes, colors, and patterns for wireless remote sets. If testing the Bluetooth set, download the BanlanX app from your mobile phone app store, register, and bind the unique serial number to ensure others can't control your whip color anymore.

6.2 Durability Check:

Gently move the whip lights to see if they work well without flickering or turning off.
